All about BINGO!

Bingo first dates back to the early 1500's in Italy. A variation of the original game is still played there today.

Bingo became popular when it arrived in North America in the 1900's. It was originally known as Beano but the name changed after a player accidently shouted Bingo during one game.

Traditionally, bingo is played using 90 numbered balls. A Player purchases a ticket which comprises of a 3 rowed by 5 columned grid. each cell has a different number in it. The Bingo Caller then randomly selects balls and calls the numbers out so that players can then check their tickets and mark them off. To make bingo even more fun, callers sometimes use bingo lingo. Associations have been made to certain numbers, e.g. 2 fat ladies...88 or 2 little ducks...22.

There are 3 separate ways to win whilst playing 90 ball bingo. A prize can be won by the first player to mark all numbers off on one row, a larger prize is won by the player that marks off all numbers on 2 rows and the top prize is won by the player that marks off all numbers on all rows. A player usually shouts "House" or "Bingo" when they have won.
